This is Love
As I thought of all the activities that happened recently, a lesson of love-in-action tucked at my heart.
Last Tuesday we had our regular ladies’ group meeting, a time of Bible study, prayer and fellowship. We usually meet in church. But this time we met in the home of one of the members, not too far from my home.
As I still don’t drive in Kuala Lumpur, a kind Christian sister, who stays nearby, has agreed to pick me up to attend these meetings. She then dashes to another housing estate further away to pick up another member, an elderly lady, and her maid.
As I had joined this group only recently, I was not aware that any meeting outside the church would mean a pot-bless meet. It was quite embarrassing for me to walk into the house with nothing in my hands except my Bible study materials and my Bible while all the other ladies had some containers of food with them. I quickly went to the host and apologised because no one told me that it was a pot-bless meeting and I only could say, “I only brought my mouth”. It was alright with everybody because there was more than enough food to feed another extra group of ladies.
Well, after the singing, Bible study, prayers, we had the most exciting and interesting time of all – food time. As all the ladies were busying taking and tucking in food, I went to the kitchen to look for the host but instead found one dear sister busy chopping a big piece of roasted pork to be served. I was really surprised and touched because this sister, a kidney patient, could only eat a little piece of the roasted pork; yet she took all the trouble to prepare this delicacy for everyone to enjoy. The best part of it was everyone was busy eating unaware that she was in the kitchen cutting up the pork just heated up in the oven to serve it hot. Reason for doing is that she knew everyone loved eating her roasted pork.
Wow, when I saw what she did, I called her action LOVE. When I took a piece of the pork she prepared with love into my mouth, it tasted really good with the extra love put into it. I praise God for this lovely sister who is an excellent example of Love In Action.
